The Hammond Bay is owned and operated by Lee Marine Ltd. Lee Marine was founded in 1954 by Donald F. Lee, a Captain and a marine contractor.

Over the years Donald Lee was involved in many interesting and varied ventures. He bought and sold several unique ships from passenger ships and tugs to government buoy tenders and naval ships.

In fact, the Lee family has been involved in marine transportation since 1868.
